|Cillizza Rounds Out Her Coaching Ranks||August 2003|
WASHINGTON -- Head Coach Gia Fenoglio Cillizza welcomes three new assistant coaches for the 2003 season.
Ashli Carpi, a starter at defense, was a two-year regional All-American at the University of California at Berkeley. After beginning her playing career at Boston University, Carpi transferred to Berkeley and served as co-captain her junior and senior years.
At Berkeley, Carpi obtained a B.A. in Social Science, and, more recently, a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. She played field hockey in high school at St. Agnes in Alexandria, Va., and Torrey Pines in Del Mar, Calif. Carpi has participated in five National Field Hockey Festivals and B camp. She is currently a lobbyist with Chambers, Conlon and Hartwell in Washington, D.C.
Sarah Mann attended Cornell, where she split her four years between varsity and club hockey as a defender and midfielder. A 4-year varsity starter at Hopkinton High School in Hopkinton, N.H., Mann was elected team Captain and team MVP her senior year. She also participated in the Futures program. During her high school career, she lettered in softball, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and track & field. Her hockey experience also includes a playing tour of Europe and club play in Fairfax, Va.
A 2002 Cornell graduate, Mann earned a B.A. in Economics and American Studies. She also works as Research Director for The Foundation on Economic Trends, a progressive nonprofit in Washington, D.C.
Kristy Palchinsky, a 2002 graduate of the University of Maryland, played four years at the DI field hockey powerhouse. During her time there, Maryland captured the Atlantic Coast Conference championship twice as well as one national championship. A defensive player, Palchinsky was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association academic squad, earned the ACC award for community service, the University of Maryland's President's Cup Award for community service and was named junior female MVP at the Big Apple International Indoor Tournament.
Palchinsky has coached in the Futures program and at Maryland's Missy Meharg School of Hockey in College Park, Md. Since graduating with a B.A. in Communications, she has played with the Mavericks hockey club in Washington, D.C.
