ST.MARY'S CITY, MD. - Catholic suffered its first loss of the season as the 15th-ranked Cardinals were upset by St. Mary's College in a Capital Athletic Conference game Wednesday afternoon.

The Seahawks' Sarah Sloane scored the only goal of the game 14:18 mark of the first half with an assist from Katie Lange.

Catholic (1-1, 0-1 CAC) had eight shots, five in the second half, but were unable to penetrate SMC goalie Whitney Fahrman with the equalizer.

Fahrman finished with three saves while CUA goalie Erin Swift (Middletown, N.J./Rerd Bank Catholic) posted four stops.

St. Mary's (3-2, 1-1 CAC) totaled nine shots and held a 7-5 penalty corner advantage.

The Cardinals return to action next Tuesday, September 16th with a non-league game against Gettysburg at 4:30 p.m.
