CARDINALS ADVANCE TO ECAC SEMIFINALS WITH WIN OVER MCDANIEL

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 9, 2005) -- Sophomore forward Kyle Keating scored two goals as Catholic University defeated McDaniel, 3-1 to advance to the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Mid-Atlantic Field Hockey tournament.

CUA (11-6) outshot the Green Terror 11-6. Sophomore midfielder Michele Repass scored her team-leading 12th goal off a penalty corner assist from Keating for a 1-0 Cardinal lead. Six minutes later, Keating knocked her first goal in off a high cross pass from senior forward Christy Engstrom to give CUA a two-goal advantage at halftime.

Keating put CUA in the lead for good with her second goal at the 48th minute. McDaniel ended the shutout on an unassisted goal to make the final margin 3-1.

CUA moves on to the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic semifinals to face Gettysburg College, a 3-0 winner over SUNY Oneonta. The game will be played at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The winner of that game plays in the championship at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday against either King's College or Kean University.
