FROSTBURG DEFEATS CUA IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 27, 2005) -- Sarah Rutland scored in the second overtime period to lift Frostburg State University past Catholic University, 1-0.

CUA (9-5) could not convert 21 penalty corner chances, 11 of which came in the second period. Frostburg standout goalkeeper Kristin Cousin proved to be CUA's arch nemesis, stopping 18 Cardinal shots to preserve the shutout victory for the Bobcats. Jamie Punyko led the Cardinals with six shots while Kyle Keating had five, three of those saved by Cousin. Michele Repass and Erin Kelly had four shots while Christy Engstrom and Ro Dixon had a shot apiece.

Seniors Engstrom, Punyko, Kathleen Langan, Melissa Schneider, Katie McCarthy and Tara Rutledge were honored in pregame ceremonies for their contributions to the CUA field hockey program.

CUA will now await the winner of the Goucher/St. Mary's CAC playoff game on Oct. 30. The semifinal game featuring Catholic University will be played at CUA on Nov. 2 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
