Dinsmore's Two Goals Take Down Bobcats
Cardinals take a week off before CAC Tournament
WASHINGTON - Jayme Dinsmore (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) continued to spark the Cardinals in Catholic University's (11-6) 2-0 routing of the Frostburg State Bobcats (5-12) Thursday afternoon. The senior is currently leading the team with 13 goals on the season.
The Cards overpowered the Bobcats for 70 minutes allowing just one FSU shot on goal the entire game. At 27:10 in the first half, CUA was awarded a penalty stroke which Dinsmore attempted. The forward connected making the score 1-0.
After blanking the Bobcats in both shots and penalty corners in the first half, CUA allowed more FSU offense in the second. Frostburg State attempted two shots and was awarded four penalty corners but couldn't find the back of the cage. Dinsmore, on the other hand, continued her hot streak scoring an unassisted tally at 68:23 to make the final 2-0.
At the final whistle, the Cards had taken 20 shots to Frostburg's two and nine penalty corners. Amanda Runion had a strong game in goal for the Bobcats with 11 saves while Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) stopped one shot.
CUA will have a weeks rest before its next game going into the CAC tournament with the #1 seed and a first round bye. This is the first time in school history that the team has finished first in the regular season and captured the top tournament seed. The Cards will host the winner of York/Mary Washington in the semifinals on November 1 at 3:00 p.m.
