Cards Fall in ECAC Tournament 1-0
CUA finishes 11-9 for the season

11/7/2007

WAYNE, N.J. - The Catholic University field hockey team was eliminated from the East Coast Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to top-seeded William Patterson (13-6).  The eighth-seeded Cards finish the season 11-9.

William Patterson scored midway through the first half on a goal by Christina Ayusa off of a penalty corner.  That goal would be the game winner as neither team could find the back of the cage for the remaining 55 minutes making the final 1-0 and advancing William Patterson to the semifinals on Saturday.

Despite the loss, the Cards had their opportunities outshooting the opponent 8-6 and take one more penalty corner with a 7-6 advantage.  Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) took the loss for CUA with a pair of saves for the game.

The Cards lose just two seniors from this season's squad and will return a majority of the starting lineup in 2008.
