Dixon Makes Most of 5-0 win on Senior Day
October 25, 2008
WASHINGTON-- Ro Dixon (Ardmore, Pa./Country Day Sacred Heart) marked two assists as her and Kelly Burke (Glendora, N.J./Bishop Eustace) were honored for Senior Day and the Cardinals picked up a 5-0 win over Moravian.
Dominating the entire game, CUA allowed only one Greyhound shot, while taking 20 of its own. The Cardinals found the back of the net five times, and had countless more opportunities throughout the game.
Carley Walko's (Freehold, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) pass to Kendall Petschauer (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) opened the scoring only 4:22 into the contest. Meredith Chandler (Tiburon, Calif./St. Ignatius) would strike next, at the 10:10 mark, followed by Tory Gagliardi (Pilesgrove, N.J./Archmere) in the 33rd minute.
In the second half, the Cardinals scored in the 41st and 44th minutes to take the game to 5-0. The greyhounds did not record a shot, until there was only 19 minutes left in the contest when Becky Renaldo got past the CUA defense, but Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) stepped out of her net and made a great kicksave to secure the shutout, her sixth of the season.
CUA will return to action on the road at Salisbury, Wednesday, October 29th at 6 p.m. before wrapping up Landmark action on Nov. 1st at Susquehanna.
