Field Hockey to Host Cabrini College in ECAC Quarterfinals
WASHINGTON- The CUA field hockey team (12-7) will host Cabrini College (16-5) in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Wednesday, November 12th at 2:30 p.m.
After going undefeated in conference play this season (6-0), the Cardinals came face to face with Juniata College for the Landmark Championship last Saturday.
CUA out shot their opponent 11-3 in the home contest and recorded 12 more penalty corners, but fell to the Eagles by a score of 2-1.
Carley Walko (Freehold, N.J./Red Bank Catholic ) recorded the only Cardinal goal in the 11th minute after Kendall Petshauer's (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) shot deflected off the goalie's pad, and right to Walko's stick.
Juniata tied things up in the final seconds of the first half off a goal from Paula Price. In the 95th minute, Price beat the defense once again and pounded a shot past Marian Cassilly to secure the Landmark Championship trophy for Juniata.
Cabrini will travel to CUA after being defeated by Neumann 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship game. The Cavaliers are lead by Lauren Alessi with 32 points on 15 goals and two assits. Goal keeper Caitlin Donahue owns a 1.46 goals-against average and .830 saves percentage in 16 starts in 2008.
