WASHINGTON- The field hockey team's balanced offensive attack proved to be the key in their commanding 4-0 victory at Randolph-Macon Saturday afternoon.

Randolph-Macon's defense was able to hold off CUA for much of the first half, but the momentum shifted once Meredith Chandler (Tiburon, Calif./St. Ignatius) recorded the first goal of the afternoon. Scoring off of a pass from Kendall Petschauer (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional), Chandler's goal sparked a vicious offensive attack that would carry on for the remainder of the contest.

Tory Gagliardi (Pilesgrove, N.J./Archmere), assisted by Mary Swarthout (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), tallied her first goal at the 24 minute mark of the first period. Mereditch Reape (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria) and Gagliardi rounded out the Cardinals' scoring, and helped propel the team to the 4-0 win.

CUA returns to the field on Saturday, September 20 for a 1 p.m., contest against Washington and Lee.
