Field Hockey Falls to No. 20 Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa.- CUA's field hockey team (2-1) fell to Gettysburg College (3-0) in a Tuesday evening non-conference meeting. The game was the Cardinals' first loss of the season, and the Bullets were ranked No. 20 in this week's NFHCA/STX Division III Coaches Poll.

Gettysburg quickly jumped out to an early lead in the first half. The Bullets out-shot the Cards 13-3, and all three goals were recorded in the opening period. Junior Lexie Hearn scored two goals and handed out an assist in the contest.

CUA then tightened up their defense, allowing only three shot attempts in the second half. Goaltender Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) tallied six goals in the loss, as the teams overall record drops to 2-1.

The team will return to action with a game at Randolph-Macon on September 13. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
