Field Hockey Falls to Juniata, 2-1
SELINSGROVE, Pa.-- After traveling to Juniata only to find out the field was deemed unplayable the CUA field hockey team (7-3, 2-1 LC) returned to the bus and traveled to Susquehanna to take on the Eagles of Juniata College (11-2, 4-0 LC) on Saturday.
With the contest location changed and both teams ending up on the road, the teams looked to get on top early. Juniata found the back of the net first as Melissa Gorman found Paula Price in the 8th minute to put the Eagles up early. Price followed that with a second tally in the 25th minute from Kim Amrod.
CUA managed six shots in the first half as well as eight penalty corners, but failed to hit the mark. Juniata's Denalyn Spratt had three first half saves to hold the Eagle lead, 2-0 at the break.
The Cardinals offense was stalled in the second half, totaling only two shots in the period, but Meredith Chandler made her second-half shot count finding the back of the net in the 68th minute.
The CUA goal in the 68th minute broke Spratt's 333:57 minutes of perfect goalkeeping for Juniata.
The Cardinals will return to action on Monday, Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m. as CUA welcomes Miseric ordia to Cardinal Stadium.
