Field Hockey Falls to #8 Rowan, 2-0

GLASSBORO, N.J.--
The CUA field hockey team fell Wednesday evening to nationally ranked #8 Rowan University, 2-0.

The Cardinals managed only six shots in the contest while the Profs took 15.  Marian Cassilly stopped seven of those shots, but a goal just before the half put the hosts up 1-0 going in the break.Julie Cairone took a penalty corner, passed the ball out to Janna Tighe where Tighe found Nicole Valanti the ball and blasted the ball past Cassilly.

CUA held the Profs scoreless until the 51st minute as Jenna Lombardo's shot was tipped by Ashley Adams and into the Cardinal net.

Mary Swarthout and Meredith Chandler each took two shots for the Cardinals but Lisa Apt was perfect for the hosts, making four saves in the contest. 

CUA returns to action on Oct. 24 on the road.  The Cardinals will travel to Drew University for a 1 p.m. conference game.  CUA returns home on Oct. 29 to wrap up the home schedule against Salisbury before traveling to Moravian to finish the regular season.
