Field Hockey Ends Season with 2-0 Loss to Montclair
State in ECAC Semifinal
MONTCLAIR, N.J.-- CUA women's field hockey fell tonight to Montclair State in the ECAC semifinal, 2-0.
Led by Caroline Reilly, Meredith Chandler and Tracey Scanlon each with three shots, CUA outshot the hosts 11-9, but a defensive save and two goals helped lift Montclair State to the ECAC final with the win.
Diana Colombo got Montclair on the board in the 2nd minute. Deana Hagel added an insurance goal in the 55th minute when Justine DiPaolo found her in front of the net.
The Cardinals finish the season with a 12-7 record. In the 2009 season CUA outscored opponents 43-24 and allowed only 1.26 goals per game. Meredith Chandler led the team with 27 points including 13 goals while Marian Cassilly made 71 saves and allowed only 1.56 goals against per contest.
