Cardinals receive National Academic Team Award

WASHINGTON – The CUA field hockey team has been honored with the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award.  The Cardinals, who won the 2010 ECAC Championship, were one of 78 Division III teams from across the country to receive the honor.

To be eligible for the National Academic Team Award a team must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year.

CUA went 17-4 this past season, with the 17 wins setting a new school record.  The Cardinals, who were nationally ranked for eight consecutive weeks, established new school marks in goals scored (77) and shutouts (11).  CUA capped its season with the first-ever ECAC title in school annals, downing Drew 2-1 in the championship game on November 14.
