Cardinals receive National Academic Team Award
WASHINGTON – The CUA field hockey team has been honored
with the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic
Team Award. The Cardinals, who won the 2010 ECAC
Championship, were one of 78 Division III teams from across the
country to receive the honor.
To be eligible for the National Academic Team Award a team must
achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the
2010-11 academic year.
CUA went 17-4 this past season, with the 17 wins setting a new
school record. The Cardinals, who were nationally ranked for
eight consecutive weeks, established new school marks in goals
scored (77) and shutouts (11). CUA capped its season with the
first-ever ECAC title in school annals, downing Drew 2-1 in the
championship game on November 14.
