Cardinals honored by numerous national outlets
WASHINGTON – Fresh off its first win over a ranked team
since 2007, the CUA field hockey team moved into the national
rankings on Tuesday as the
Cardinals debuted at No. 17 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division III
Coaches Poll. At 6-0, CUA is off to its best start ever
and has allowed just one goal in 420 minutes of action.
Also on Tuesday, the
Cardinals checked in at No. 12 in the womensfieldhockey.com
rankings and junior goalkeeper Krystyanna Ramsdell was named
the Division III national player of the week by the same
outlet.
One day after receiving Landmark Conference Defensive Player Of
the Week accolades, Ramsdell
was honored for her work in CUA’s two wins last
week. The Massachusetts native stopped a combined nine
shots in the Cardinals victories, and earned her fifth shutout of
the season on September 14 at Gettysburg. She has allowed
only a single goal all season, which came on a penalty corner in
CUA’s 2-1 win over then-No. 8 Rowan on September 18.
CUA’s
list of accolades continued with a No. 10 rating from
fieldhockeycorner.com. The Cardinals are one of only nine
unbeaten teams in all of Division III and their computer rating of
96.9 is third best among all D-III schools in the South Atlantic
region.
The No. 17 Cardinals will be back in action on Wednesday,
September 22 when they travel to take on Mary Washington.
Game time is set for 4:30.
