Cardinals move up two spots in national poll to No. 15
WASHINGTON – Following two more wins last week, the CUA
field hockey team moved up two spots in the latest Kookaburra/NFHCA
Division III Coaches Poll, announced on Tuesday. The
Cardinals check in at No. 15 this week after debuting at No. 17
in the poll a week ago.
CUA continues to make headlines with its impressive 8-1 start to
the 2010 season. In the latest
womensfieldhockey.com rankings, the Cardinals find themselves
in the No. 16 position.
Fieldhockeycorner.com publishes weekly ratings of all Division III
field hockey teams, and this
week CUA is 13th with a rating of 96.9. Among South
Atlantic D-III schools, the Cardinals are fourth in the
ratings.
In nine games this season, the Cardinals have outscored opponents
by a combined 39-6 score and outshot them 129 to 39. CUA is
allowing only 0.67 goals per game and has registered six
shutouts.
The No. 15 Cardinals are off this week before returning to action
on October 5 when they take on Landmark Conference foe Goucher on
the road. Game time is set for 7:00.
