Several CUA student-athletes enjoy trip to White House
WASHINGTON – Several CUA student-athletes enjoyed a unique
trip to the White House on Thursday where they had a chance to meet
Vice President Joe Biden for the release of a new public service
announcement. The PSA features President Barack Obama, Vice
President Biden and a number of professional athletes.
The PSA will air on various ESPN and other platforms this summer
and was put together for the 1is2many campaign.
The 1is2many campaign was launched by Vice President Biden and
focuses his longstanding commitment to reducing violence against
women specifically on teens and young women ages 16-24. By
targeting the importance of changing attitudes that lead to
violence and educating the public on the realities of abuse, this
Administration is leading the way in an effort to stop violence
against women before it begins.
Among the CUA student-athletes in attendance were Caitlin Conroy
(women’s soccer), Ashley Wilson (swimming), Jill Woerner
(women’s basketball), Ben Fernandez (men’s soccer),
Kory Smigocki (baseball), Catherine Mirsky (field hockey).
CUA Associate Director of Athletics Jacqui Schuman accompanied the
CUA group on Thursday.
The event took place at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building,
which is located next to the West Wing and houses a majority of
offices for White House staff. Click
