Bad internet connection kept me from writing about yesterday's slugfest win over rival Wesley, and a letdown loss against R.I.T.  The win against Wesley was highlighted by a grand slam by Pat Quintana and was poetic justice for the walkoff grand slam hit by Wesley two seasons ago, handing us a 17-16 loss.  Yesterday's 17-8 win saw every starter cross the plate at least once and a handful of underclassmen get their first intercollegiate innings and plate appearances.  Our bullpen helped out pitcher Kevin Sweeney, who returns this season after Tommy John surgery.  Billy Robbett earned the win and Drew Hoffmaster finished off the game in his first intercollegiate trip to the mound.

I hate to sound cliché, but good pitching stops good hitting.  R.I.T.'s pitcher hit spots, changed speed, and had the benefit of a wide strike zone kept our potent offense quiet.  The loss concluded a long day at the ballpark, as both games were over three and half hours.
