Registration for 2011 CUA Golf Classic now open

WASHINGTON – Registration is now open for the CUA Athletics Golf Classic, which will take place on Friday, October 21 at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville, Maryland.  Proceeds from the tournament will benefit CUA’s intercollegiate athletic programs.

On the day of the Golf Classic, registration opens at 11:30 a.m., the driving range and practice greens will be available beginning at 12:30 p.m. and at 1:30 the four-person scramble tournament will get underway.

Following the golf action, there will be a reception beginning at 6 with dinner and an awards ceremony to follow.  Included in the reception will be the third annual CUA Smathers Award presentation.  The Smathers Award honors a former or current CUA student athlete who has distinguished themselves in service to their community, university, profession or country. 

This year’s honoree is Connie Hanlon, a 1989 CUA graduate who was a member of the Cardinals basketball, volleyball and track and field teams and has been active in serving others within the Washington community for the past 20 years.
