Four Cardinals named to Landmark Spring All-Academic Team
WASHINGTON – Four Cardinals have been named to the 2011
Landmark Conference Spring All-Academic Team, it was announced on
Tuesday. Shawn Brubaker (track and field), Sam Daubman
(softball), Rosemary Montani (tennis) and Tom Scotto (men’s
lacrosse) were honored for excelling athletically and
academically.
A thrower on the track and field team, Brubaker placed sixth in
the hammer throw at this year’s Landmark Conference
championships, and his performance at the Battleground Relays in
March earned him the conference’s Male Field Athlete of the
Week award. A politics major, Brubaker is a member of the
Dean’s List and the Landmark Conference Academic Honor
Roll.
Daubman helped lead the CUA softball team to an appearance in the
conference championship game. She started all 40 games for
the Cardinals in 2011 and totaled 11 hits, 10 runs batted in, four
doubles and three walks during that time. In the field,
Daubman recorded 76 putouts and 67 assists. A two-time member of
the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll and a Dean’s List
member, Daubman is a mechanical engineering major.
Montani was a key part of the women’s tennis team, which
earned a spot in the conference tournament this year. Montani
went 4-1 in singles play, including an unbeaten record in the
Landmark Conference, and she also posted three wins in doubles
action. A nursing major, Montani is a member of the
Dean’s List and the Landmark Conference Academic Honor
Roll.
One of the top face-off men in the entire nation, Scotto had a
terrific 2011 for CUA. He won 61 percent at the X (219-355)
and also scooped up a team-leading 112 ground balls. Scott
scored one goal on the year and dished out five assists in helping
lead the Cardinals to their second straight postseason
appearance. Off the field Scotto is a civil engineering major
and a member of the Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s
List.
