Salisbury Sneaks Past Men's Soccer With Last-Minute Goal

WASHINGTON – Benjamin Aryeetey scored the lone goal of the game in the 85th minute as Salisbury notched a 1-0 victory over Catholic in non-conference action on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Salisbury, Md.

The two teams held each other scoreless as the game seemed to be heading into overtime before Aryeetey got past Catholic keeper Torsten Meuschke (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) inside the 6-yard box. The late goal put the Seagulls up 1-0 for good as the Cardinals were unable to answer back.

For the game, Catholic held a 9-to-5 advantage in corner kicks, while Salisbury controlled the shots taken 17-to-13. Meuschke picked up eight saves in the loss.

The Cardinals (4-3-1) return to action this Wednesday, Sept. 25 when they head to Washington College (5-1) for another non-conference contest, kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
