Four CUA Athletes Named to Landmark Winter All-Academic Team
WASHINGTON- The Landmark Conference has announced that four CUA student-athletes have been named to the Winter All-Academic Team for their successes both in the athletic arena and the classroom.
Jason Banzhaf (Livingston, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) had another fantastic year for the CUA men's basketball team. The sophomore was a first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Region honoree. He also the Landmark in scoring this year (20.3 points per game) and was second in the in rebounding (7.8 per game). The exploratory major has earned Landmark Academic Honor Roll and Dean's List distinction.
Lisa Brooks (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) has been an intricate member of the CUA women's swimming team for the past two seasons. She won two races at the Landmark Championships for the second time in two years, and was the first female swimmer in the Landmark to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Brooks is a biology major who was named to the Dean's List with Honors.
Andrew Kalna (Stafford, Va./Mother of Divine Grace) was at the core of the Cardinal's men's swimming team this year, earning All-Academic honors for the second time in his career. The senior led CUA to a third place finish in the Landmark Championships, finishing 10th in the 200 butterfly. The engineering and philosophy major is also a member of the Tau Beta Phi and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies.
Jess Schiavoni (Winchester, Va./John Handley) earns her second claims her All-Academic honor after finishing her final season with the women's basketball team. Schiavoni played in all 25 games, averaging four points and 3.6 boards per game. The business management major is also a Dean's List student.
