CUA Earns Three Player of the Week Nods
Three members of the Catholic University spring sports teams earned Landmark Conference Player of the Week awards for their efforts in last week’s play.
Outfielder Dmitri Deoudes led the Cards to a sweep of Landmark foe Juniata College over the weekend, as CUA remains undefeated in conference play. The junior went 7-9 on over a three-game stretch for seven RBIs
Short stop Megan Rizzi helped the CUA softball team finish 7-1 last week, also splitting with Juniata in their first Landmark appearance of the year. The sophomore managed 15 hits in 26 at-bats, including five multi-hit games, for a .577 batting average. Rizzi also had five triples and four doubles. She tallied 12 runs and drove in 19 over the eight games, closing the week with a perfect 6-for-6 in a CUA sweep over Gwynedd-Mercy.
Kelly Caroito earned two first place finishes in the Goucher College Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore finished atop both the shot put with a toss of 11.79m, and the discus throw with a distance of 33.22m. Carioto helped lead the women's track team to a 2nd place finish at the meet.
