Three Cardinals Earn Player of the Week Honors
WASHINGTON-- After several strong performances this week, three Cardinals have earned Player of the Week honors from the Landmark Conference.
Goalkeeper Sean McKenna turned in a pair of stellar outings as Men's Lacrosse opened the season with two wins. He stopped eight shots and allowed just two goals in a 16-2 win over Cazenovia, and made 10 saves in an 11-7 win over Wesley. He faced 59 shots over the two contests and also helped his cause with eight ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Baseball’s Eamonn Burke got off to a hot offensive start as the Cardinals opened the season 3-2. He hit .462 over five games, knocking out six hits and scoring four runs. He blasted a grand slam in the opener, has also added a double, and has seven RBI total over the course of the week.
Ron Esposito tossed four scoreless innings of relief this past week to help CUA to a pair of victories. He did not allow a hit over four innings, including three shutdown innings in a 5-0 Catholic win over Messiah. He also tossed a scoreless inning in a shutout win over Gallaudet. For the week he went four innings, allowing no hits and one base runner while fanning three.
