Four CUA Athletes Named to Winter All-Academic Team
MADISON, N.J.- The Landmark Conference announced this week that 32 student-athletes were selected to the 2010 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Among the 32 honorees were four CUA students: Lisa Brooks, Darrell Carroll, Brielle Crites, and Kris Reynolds.
Junior Lisa Brooks has been honored as a first-team All-Conference selection in all three seasons on the Catholic University swim team. She has won the 100 and 200 breaststroke for the last three years, and qualified for the NCAA Championships as a junior. This is her second appearance on the All-Academic Team. The biology major has also been named to the Dean's List with honors in her time at CUA.
Junior Darrell Carroll played in all 27 games for the CUA men's basketball team. The New Jersey native was a key player off the bench, helping the team finish 18-9 overall and earn both Landmark and ECAC postseason berths. Carroll is an international economics and finance major, also minoring in Spanish and philosophy. He is also a two-time Academic Honor Roll recipient, earning a perfect 4.0 GPA this fall.
Sophomore Brielle Crites makes her first appearance on the All-Academic Team, earning Dean's List honors every semester at CUA. The Collingswood, N.J., native returned from injury mid-season and made an immediate impact on the team. Starting in 5-10 games, Crites pulled down 23 rebounds, tallied 13 points, and dished out 11 assists. The psychology major is also a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society.
Junior Kris Reynolds has also fought back from injury, but has been a key member of Catholic's cross country and track teams. In the fall, the Cooperstown, N.Y., native was the squad's number two runner, and is pegged as one of CUA's top mid-distance runners. A member of the National Engineering Honor Society, Reynolds boasts one of the GPAs among CUA athletes as a mechanical engineering major.
