CUA names John H. Garvey as its new president
WASHINGTON, D.C. – John H. Garvey, 61, dean of Boston
College Law School, has been appointed president of The Catholic
University of America. Garvey, who earned his law degree at
Harvard and his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre
Dame, has spent the last 34 years as a law school professor and
administrator.
Garvey is the author of influential books on constitutional law,
religious liberty and the First Amendment. He and his wife of
35 years have five children and 11 grandchildren. The
appointment is effective July 1.
