SAAC to sponsor Blackout event on January 29
WASHINGTON – Members of CUA’s SAAC program are
sponsoring a Blackout event on Saturday, January 29 at the
Cardinals women’s and men’s basketball games vs.
Juniata inside the DuFour Center. The women’s game gets
underway at 2 p.m. with the men to follow at 4.
In conjunction with the Blackout event, SAAC will be selling
“Team Blackout” shirts at the Pryzbyla Center and the
DuFour Center on Wednesday, January 26th, Thursday, January 27th
and Friday, January 28th. A portion of the proceeds will go to the
late Manute Bol’s initiative to build school buildings for
Sudanese children. Bol played for four different teams over a
ten-year career in the NBA and was the second tallest player ever
in the league. He was very active in charitable causes during
and after his professional playing career.
Students who wear a “Team Blackout” t-shirt to the
basketball games on Saturday will receive FREE WINGS! There will be
also contests throughout the day for students to participate in
with SAAC awarding one pair of Washington Wizards tickets and one
pair of Washington Capitals tickets to the winners. One pair
of tickets will be awarded at each game.
Come out and support the CUA men’s and women’s
basketball teams by wearing SAAC’s Blackout t-shirts to the
games this weekend. Action gets underway at 2 p.m. on Saturday
afternoon from inside the DuFour Center with the women taking
Juniata.
The men’s game will begin at 4 and at halftime CUA will
honor many of its former basketball greats as Catholic University
celebrates 100 seasons of basketball.
