Carioto and Doran place first, Brubaker takes third in Pa.
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – CUA wrapped up its final meet prior to
the Landmark Conference championship on Sunday, competing at the
Susquehanna Invitational. Kelly Carioto and Courtney Doran
earned first place finishes for the women, while Shawn Brubaker
placed third in the weight throw for the men.
Carioto won the shot put by over three feet, with a throw of
41’11 ½”, while Mary Clark came in fifth with a
toss of 33’6”. Doran took first in the high jump,
clearing 4’11 ¾” and Clark came in sixth
(4’6”).
Kerri Hanley (30’6 ½”) and Kaila DeFalco
(26’5 ½”) also competed in the shot put, placing
11th and 20th, respectively.
In the weight throw, Clark finished eighth with a throw of
37’10”, while Christine Fontaine (31’1
½”), DeFalco (30’9”), and Hanley
(30’8 ½”) finished 13th through 15th.
Three Cardinals placed in the top-ten in the long jump, including
Hannah Gillis (7), Candance Williamson (8) and Sarah Deitz (9),
with Williamson finishing sixth in the triple jump.
Also in the field events, Erin Sandlin placed fourth in the pole
vault, clearing 9’0 ¼”.
Kelsely Broomfield (4), Deitz (5), Gillis (8), and Maria Docal
(11) finished in the top-11 of the 400 meters, while Kristen
Rayfield (12), Grace Lally (15), Tali Peretti (16) and Christine
Kolberg (21) competed in the 800 meters.
On the men’s side, Brubaker posted a third place finish in
the weight throw, with a toss of 41’11” and he added a
20th place showing in the shot put (36’11
¾”).
CUA is back in action in two weeks when the Cardinals return to
Selinsgrove for the Landmark Conference championship. Action
on February 25 gets underway beginning at 10 a.m.
