Freshman set season highs in both points and rebounds

2/25/2008

WASHINGTON - Jason Banzhaf (Livingston, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) capped off his rookie year with an outstanding performance Saturday evening.  He was recognized for his efforts with the Landmark Conference's Player of the Week honor.  This is the freshman's first conference honor of the season.

Banzhaf scored a career and season-high 32 points in CUA's 76-68 victory over Goucher College in the final game of the season for the Cards.  The forward added 18 rebounds and three assists to his total marking the squad's finest performance of the year.  Banzhaf shot a remarkable 73 percent from the field as well as 80 percent from the line.  He is currently leading the Cards averaging 12.6 ppg and ranked second in the conference in shooting percentage.

CUA finished out the season 10-15 overall and 4-10 in conference.  The young squad was comprised of no seniors meaning they will return everyone next season as they try and improve upon this year's record.
