Holmes earns third Player of the Week honor from conference

WASHINGTON – For the third time this season, Shawn Holmes has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  The junior averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games last week on his way to earning All-Tournament honors at the CUA Residence Inn-Greenbelt Classic.

Homes notched 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in an 85-71 victory over MCLA on December 31, while shooting 7 of 10 from the floor and 4 of 5 at the free throw line. 

The Baltimore native then scored 21 points to go along with 5 assists and 3 rebounds in a last-second 82-81 setback to No. 24 Buffalo State on January 1.

For the season, Holmes leads CUA in scoring (16.2), steals (1.6), assists (3.2) and minutes (30.1).

Holmes and the Cardinals will be back in action on Friday, January 6 when they head to Pennsylvania to face Moravian in a Landmark Conference matchup.  Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m.
