Limberiou rewarded for strong shooting performance last week
WASHINGTON – After a week in which he averaged 25 points on 79% shooting in two wins for CUA, freshman Steve Limberiou was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Limberiou hit for a career-high 25 points in wins over DeSales and Richard Stockton last week.
Limberiou began his week with 25 points on 7 of 8 shooting, including a 4 of 5 showing from 3-point range, in CUA's 81-72 win over DeSales on December 7. The Pittsburgh native also hit 7 of 8 free throws and pulled down four rebounds.
On Saturday, December 10, Limberiou again lit it up to the tune of 25 points, this time on 8 of 11 shooting and a 7 of 9 showing from downtown, in a 72-65 victory at Richard Stockton. Limberiou hit both of his free throw attempts and totaled three assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals.
Limberiou currently leads CUA with a 15.8 points per game average. He is shooting an impressive 53% from the field and 59% from 3-point range, while also pulling down 4 rebounds per game.
Led by Limberiou's offensive outburst, CUA (8-0) is off to its best start since the 1927-28 season when the Cardinals won their first 10 games. CUA will look to equal that start this week with a pair of home games.
Limberiou and the Cardinals are back in action on Monday evening when they play host to Mt. Aloysius inside the DuFour Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
