Landmark Conference names Holmes Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Senior Shawn Holmes has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  In two wins for the Cardinals last week, Holmes averaged 20 points on 50 percent shooting.  This marks the fourth time in his career that Holmes has earned a weekly award from the conference.

Holmes got his week started by scoring 16 points in 32 minutes in CUA's 62-53 win over Juniata on January 30 at home.

The Baltimore native then sank 6 of 11 shots, including 2 of 2 3-pointers, en route to 24 points in an 84-73 victory vs. Drew on February 2.  Holmes also went a perfect 10 of 10 at the free throw line, and totaled four rebounds and an assist on the night.

For the season, Holmes is averaging 16.8 and 3.3 assists per game, while shooting 42.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Holmes and the No. 11 Cardinals (19-2, 9-1 Landmark Conference) return to the hardwood on Wednesday evening when they head to Selinsgrove, Pa. to face Susquehanna. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
