Kearney named Landmark Conference Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – After scoring a career-high 32 points in No. 11 CUA's 58-48 win over Scranton on Saturday, senior Chris Kearney was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week on Monday. This is Kearney's second award of the season and comes following a week in which he averaged 25.5 points on 64.7 percent shooting, as well as 9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two wins.
In the win over Scranton, Kearney tallied his career-best 32 points on 15 of 24 shooting and added 12 rebounds and two blocks. Kearney scored the Cardinals first 14 points and 16 of their first 18.
Earlier in the week, Kearny netted 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting, and pulled down six boards in a win against Susquehanna. He also blocked three shots and handed out two assists.
For the season, Kearney is averaging team highs in scoring (17.5) and rebounding (6.8), while shooting 55.7 percent from the field and 70 percent at the free throw line.
Kearney and the No. 11 Cardinals (15-2, 5-1) are back in action on Wednesday evening when they play host to Goucher. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
