Kearney selected for NABC All-Star Game on March 23
WASHINGTON – Senior Chris Kearney has been selected to participate in the 2013 NABC Reese's Division III College All-Star Game, which will take place on Saturday, March 23 in Salem, Va. Start time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
The All-Star Game will take place prior to the NCAA Division III semifinals.
Two student-athletes from each of the eight regions of competition have been selected to the All-Star Game, while two other student-athletes were selected by fans on D3Hoops.com.
Kearney had a terrific 2012-13 season for CUA, helping to lead the Cards to their first-ever Landmark Conference title and first NCAA Tournament since 2007.
A native of Virginia, Kearney was named the Landmark Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Year, as well as the Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year by D3Hoops.com.
A First Team All-Conference selection and ECAC All-Star, Kearney led CUA in scoring (16.7) and rebounding (7.0) this season, while shooting 53.1 percent from the field and blocking 2 shots per game. The 6-7 senior ranks in the top 10 of five statistical categories within the Landmark, including scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, blocks and minutes.
Kearney scored in double figures 25 times in 2012-13, topping out with a career-high 32 points in a win over Scranton on January 19. He then dropped another 30 points at Scranton on February 9.
The third leading shot blocker in school history, Kearney was named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week on two occasions this season, and was also named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week twice. Kearney posted eight double-digit rebound games, with a high of 15 at Merchant Marine Academy on January 26. That same day, the CUA tri-captain scored the 1,000th point of his career.
Participants arrive in Salem two days prior to the game and will be involved in a community service project, attend the championship banquet and practice with their teams.
