D3Hoops.com ranks CUA No. 6 in this week's Top 25 poll
WASHINGTON – Two more wins last week, including one within
the Landmark Conference, have helped the Cardinals move up to No. 6
in this week’s D3Hoops.com Top 25
poll, announced on Monday. CUA downed Washington College
and Merchant Marine Academy last week to improve to 12-1 and run
its win streak to seven straight.
On January 2, CUA fought off a pesky Washington College squad to
earn a 79-63 victory inside the DuFour Center. Shawn Holmes
led the way offensively with 23 points, and the Cardinals dished
out a season-best 23 assists on 27 made field goals.
Three days later, the Cardinals unleashed a terrific defensive
performance to down USMMA 74-57. In this game, CUA held the
Mariners to 38-percent shooting and forced them into 20 turnovers
en route to the win.
Steve Limberiou netted a game-high 20 points and all five CUA
starters hit for double figures on the night, while freshman point
guard Bryson Fonville totaled seven assists, five steals and only
one turnover in 38 minutes of action.
CUA currently leads the Landmark Conference in scoring offense
(71.9 ppg) and scoring defense (54.8 ppg). The Cardinals also
top the league in scoring margin (+17.1), free throw percentage
(.722), field goal percentage (.453), 3-point field goal percentage
(.410), rebounding defense (31.5), assists (15.7), turnover margin
(+7.15), and assist/turnover ratio (1.6).
No. 6 CUA returns to the court on Wednesday evening when the
Cardinals head to Pennsylvania to face Juniata College. Start
time is set for 7 p.m.
