WASHINGTON - Steve Limberiou was one of five players chosen to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District II Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. Limberiou will now advance to the national ballot and is eligible to become an Academic All-American.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, be a key starter or reserve, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher. Limberiou holds a 3.52 grade point average in Finance and was named to the Landmark Conference honor roll last year.
On the court, Limberiou has been an impact player since the day he stepped foot on campus. This year had been a career year for the Pittsburgh, Pa. native, as he scored his 1,000th point on January 5th, in the same game he tied his career-high of 33 points, while draining eight 3-pointers.
Limberiou leads the team in scoring and is ranked third in the conference with 17.1 points per game. He currently has 1,097 career points, which ranks 29th on Catholic's all-time scoring list.
Limberiou has helped the Cardinals to a first place standing in the Landmark at 6-1 after picking up four wins on the road. CUA will kick off the second half of the conference schedule on Saturday as the team returns home for a matchup with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 4 pm. Catholic will close out the regular season with five of its next seven games at home.
