Catholic victorious over Ithaca

WASHINGTON--- Senior Craig Avallone (Lincroft, NJ/CBA) and junior William Morley (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) scored 17 points apiece, respectively, to lead Catholic over Ithaca College, 90-56, in non-conference action at the DuFour Center Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Cardinals stand at 7-0 and are off to their best start under head coach Mike Lonergan.
Morley scored 12 of his 17 points in the first half while Avallone netted nine of his 17 points in the second half.
The teams stayed neck and neck through the first 10 minutes of the game but Morley's thunderous dunk gave Catholic a four-point lead with just over nine minutes in the half. On the ensuing Ithaca possession, Nate Thomas sank a three-pointer cut the CUA lead to one at 21-20. From there the Cardinals went on a 19-4 run capped off by a Patrick Satalin (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) three-pointer.
Satalin sent the teams into the locker room at the half as he beat the buzzer with his second three-pointer of the game. The freshman scored a season-high eight points and added four assists and four rebounds.
The second half saw Ithaca (1-3) get within 48-38 early on, but the Cardinals responded with an 11-0 run to seal their seventh win of the season.
Jess Roth led Ithaca with 12 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting.
For the game the Bombers were 22-of-67 and just 9-of-30 from beyond the arc. Catholic was 28-of 54 from the floor and connected on 6-of-10 three-point attempts.
Catholic returns to action next Monday, December 16th as they travel to Pensacola, Fla. to take on Division II University of West Florida at 8 p.m.
