Dec 15, 2003
WASHINGTON --- Sophomore Patrick Satalin (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the second half to lift No. 21 Catholic to an 89-79 win over North Carolina Wesleyan Sunday afternoon at the DuFour Center.
Satalin was one of five Cardinals in double figures as Catholic won its seventh game in a row.
Senior William Morley (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) netted 16 points. His biggest bucket came at the end of the first half as he drilled his only three-pointer of the contest at the buzzer to give the Cardinals (7-1) a 38-37 lead at the break, a lead CUA would not surrender the rest of the game.
After Latwan Scott's trey with just under eight minutes in the game to pull the Bishops to 58-54, Catholic responded by going on an 11-4 run to increase the lead to double digits.
Keith Sudler finished with a game-high 23 points and teammate Donta Jenkins registered 16 rebounds and added 12 points for North Carolina Wesleyan (4-3).
Senior Blair Mills (Hebron, Md./Wicomico) chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Shane Sowden (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth's) added 10 points, four boards, and a block.
For the game, Catholic shot 26-of-59 including a 13-for-24 effort in the second half.
The Cardinals return to action in 2004 as they host Methodist College on Sunday, January 4th at 3 p.m.
