TOWSON, MD. -- A big second half enabled Catholic to pull away from a pesky Goucher squad, 79-64, Saturday evening in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

Senior Blair Mills (Hebron, Md./Wicomico) was one of four Cardinals in double digits, scoring a team-high 18 points.

After shooting just 14-of-35 in the first half and clinging to a 35-34 lead at halftime, the Cardinals rebounded by draining 57% (12-of-21) in the second stanza.

A 6-0 run capped off by a Matt Spierenburg (Chambersburg, Pa./St. Maria Goretti) dunk broke a 43-43 deadlock midway through the period.

From there sophomore Matt Tanner (Eldersburg, Md./St. Maria Goretti) would connect on his only three-pointer of the game to give the Cardinals a 67-58 lead with 3:02 to play.

Sophomores Shane Sowden (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth's) chipped in 13 points and six rebounds while Patrick Satalin (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) added 10 points and six assists. Senior William Morley (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) contributed 12 points.

Garrett Smith scored a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds for Goucher (9-7, 3-3 CAC).
