WASHINGTON --- No. 18 Catholic cruised to its eighth straight win and first of the new year Sunday afternoon in an 85-43 drubbing of Methodist College at the DuFour Center.
Senior Blair Mills (Hebron, Md./Wicomico) and freshman Patrick Dwyer (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) scored 15 points apiece to lead the Cardinals.
The Monarchs shot just 8-of-27 in the first half and saw CUA use a 10-0 run to close the period to give the Cardinals (8-1) a 40-19 lead at the break.
It was more of the same in the second half, as Catholic would keep a 30-point lead throughout the stanza.
Senior William Morley (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) chipped in 15 points, four assists, and five rebounds.
Methodist (4-4) didn't have a player finish in double figures. Ivan Little scored eight points and added four assists while teammate Arthur Hatch also netted eight points with five rebounds and four blocks.
Catholic connected on 29-of-59 from the floor and was successful on 6-of-20 from three-point land.
The Cardinals take on Richard Stockton College in Pomona, N.J. on Tuesday January 6th with a start time at 7 p.m.
