POMONA, N.J. -- A key 17-7 run late in the second half helped Catholic to its ninth straight win in a 72-56 victory over Richard Stockton Tuesday night in non-league action.
Seniors William Morley (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) and Blair Mills (Hebron, Md./Wicomico) scored 17 points apiece respectively to lead the Cardinals (9-1).
Morley was 5-of-9 from the floor including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Mills added a game-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and chipped in three assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.
The Cardinals used hot shooting in the first half to take a 38-32 lead at the half. Catholic shot 14-for-26 and was successful on 6-of-15 treys, three of which came from Patrick Satalin (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill). The sophomore finished with 11 points and added three assists.
Richard Stockton's Kevin Vaughn led all scorers with 19 points, but six coming in the second-half.
The Ospreys' Aaron Wright hit two free-throws to tie the game at 46-46 with just over 11 minutes in the contest.
From there the CUA defense held Richard Stockton to just one field goal over the next five minutes. RSC was just 8-of-31 (25.8%) in the second half, going 22-of-63 (34.9%) for the game.
Mills' tough layup off a feed from Morley capped a big three-point play with 4:24 in the game gave CUA a 62-50 lead.
For the game CUA shot 54.5% (24-of-44) but jsut 17-of-24 from the free-throw line.
Catholic continues its non-league schedule as they play at Susquehanna University. Tipoff is slated 8 p.m.
