FUMAI NAMED CAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Feb. 27, 2006)

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- CUA guard/forward Scott Fumai has been named Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week after the Cardinals claimed the CAC Tournament title for the sixth time.

Fumai led Catholic University to the 2006 CAC Championship, defeating St. Mary’s, Mary Washington and Salisbury. He had an outstanding CAC Tournament, scoring in double figures in all three CUA wins. Fumai scored a career-high 28 points in the win over St. Mary’s by going 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range. In the win over Mary Washington, Fumai was a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point land and scored 20 first-half points. Against Salisbury, he scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in the 79-70 championship win.

Fumai is the third Cardinal to receive CAC Player of the Week honors. Patrick Dwyer received the award on January 9 and freshman Nick Olivero received the award on February 6.
