CUA defeats Mount Union 80-74
CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Catholic University men's basketball squad (3-1) beat the Mount Union College Raiders (1-2) Saturday evening in the semifinals of the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament hosted by Case Western Reserve. Nick Olivero (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) scored 19 points to lead the Cards who have advanced to the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
Mount Union got off to a quick start but the Cards came back midway through the first as Olivero hit a trio of three's to put CUA ahead by four with eight minutes left in the half. Wes Parker (Germantown, Md./Northwest) added to the lead off of a hustle play where he missed the three but got his own rebound and sank the jumper to put the Cards up 26-18. Unfortunately, the lead didn't last long as CUA cooled off and Mount Union scored to pull ahead by three with two minutes remaining. Neither team would score in the final minutes making the score 34-31, Raiders, going into the break.

Olivero sparked the run with a pair of three's while Matt Fazzini (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) hit a jumper and Sean Stolzenthaler (Middletown, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) swished a shot from beyond the arc for the equalizer at 53. From that point on the lead went back and forth but with five minutes left, Jones hit a three that put the Cards ontop for good. With the Raiders forced to foul CUA shot 100 percent from the line in the final two minutes sinking 12 free throws to cruise to a 80-74 victory.
