Cardinals Trample Rangers, 74-43
MADISON, N.J.- The Catholic University men's basketball team earned a solid 74-43 victory over Drew Friday evening. With the win, CUA improves to 11-2 on the year and remains unbeated in Landmark Conference play.
CUA went on an early 9-2 run and never relinquished their stifling lead. Despite a late comeback by the Rangers, the Cards ended the first half with a 13-4 run that put them up 34-19.
In the second half, Catholic University built a 43-22 lead after just three and a half minutes of play. The Cards held Drew to 32% shooting from the field, and forced them into 15 turnovers. By the end of the contest, CUA earned the 74-43 victory.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was Jason Banzhaf (Livingston, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) with 18 points and four rebounds. RJ Dixon (Charlotte, N.C./Cannon School) added 10 points, while teammate Evin Yarbrough (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) chipped in with 7 points and 7 boards.
CUA returns to action on Saturday for another conference match-up against USMMA. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
