Men's Basketball Seeded No. 2 for ECAC Tournament
After finishing the regular season 17-8, the CUA men's basketball team will host Grove City College (Pa.) in the opening round of the 2009 ECAC Southern Championship Tournament.
The Cardinals were selected as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 seeded Grove City College on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the DuFour Center.
This is the second all-time meeting between the programs. Grove City won the first meeting in 1923, 23-21.
Cabrini (20-7) is the top seed in the ECAC Tournament and will host No. 8 Penn State Altoona (14-12). The winner of that game will play the winner of the Bethany-Penn State Behrend quarterfinal. Behrend earned the No. 4 seed with a 17-9 overall record. The winner of the Grove City-Catholic game will face either W&J or third-seeded Pitt-Bradford (17-11) in the other semifinal.
The highest-seeded team remaining after the quarterfinals will host the semifinals Saturday and the championship game Sunday afternoon.
