Shawn Holmes Led Men's Basketball With 12 Points, As CUA
Dropped Goucher, 46-33
TOWSON, Md.-- Shawn Holmes dropped 12 tonight as CUA (18-7, 10-4 LC) ended the 2009-10 regular season on a high note, with a 46-33 win over Goucher College in Landmark Conference action.
R.J. Dixon joined Holmes in double figures with 11 points. Chris Kearney added three blocks, nine points and six boards for the Cardinals in the win.
Trae Lindsay was the only Gopher to hit double figures as the hosts scored a program record low 33 points in the loss.
CUA opened a 9-2 lead and continued to pour on the offense throughout the first half. The Cards led at the break 25-15 and held that lead throughout the second half.
The Cards shot only 33.3% from the field for the game but steady offense prevailed over the dismal shooting of Goucher (23.5%). CUA also added 15 free throws on 23 attempts to edge out the Gophers who shot 8-of-18 from the charity stripe.
CUA will now travel to Scranton to take on the Royals in the Landmark Conference semifinal on Wednesday. Tipoff time is 7:30 p.m.
