Banzhaf, Dixon Named to First Team All-Landmark
WASHINGTON- CUA juniors Jason Banzhaf and R. J. Dixon have been named to the First Team All-Landmark after posting outstanding numbers in their third seasons on the men's basketball squad. Banzhaf has garnered conference accolades for three straight years, including Second Team and Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman, and a First Team nod in his sophomore campaign, while Dixon makes his first appearance on the list.
Banzhaf has been a focal point for the Cardinals this season, leading the team to an 18-8 record thus far, as well as a bid to the ECAC tournament as the No. 1 seed. The forward started in 25 of 26 games, averaging 14.8 PPG and 7.8 RPG.
The Livingston, N.J., native also posted six double-doubles on the year. His best game was against conference rival Goucher College, where he netted 28 points and collected 13 rebounds. He also shot 52 percent from the field and 73.8 percent from the charity stripe.
Dixon was also named to the First Team after an incredible showing in his junior campaign. The point guard was at the heart of the CUA squad, starting in all 26 games while leading the team as the second highest scorer (12.3 PPG).
Dixon used his quickness and exceptional court vision to lead the Cards in assists this season (87), 21 more than any other member of the team. He also ranked third in the conference in assists, and had the fourth best assist to turnover ratio.
The junior's numbers also placed him third in steals (1.96 per game), and 9th in three-point field goal percentage (.347) in Landmark play. Dixon earned a field goal percentage of 44.8, and shot 80 percent from the free throw line.
The Cardinals will look to capture their first ECAC title since 1986 beginning March 6th, as they host the winner of Pitt-Bradford/ Alvernia at 4:00 p.m.
