Banzhaf earns third straight selection to All-Region Team
WASHINGTON – For the third straight season Jason Banzhaf
has been named an All-Middle Atlantic Region selection by
D3hoops.com, it was announced on Tuesday. Banzhaf was named
to the second team for the first time in his career after earning
first team distinction in 2009 and third team laurels a year
ago.
A four time All-Landmark Conference selection, Banzhaf had a
terrific senior season for the Cardinals, leading the team in
scoring (18 ppg) and rebounding (9 rpg). Among conference
foes, Banzhaf led the Landmark in rebounding, while ranking third
in scoring, fourth in field goal percentage and 11th in free throw
percentage.
Banzhaf scored in double figures in every game but one this
season, topping out with a 31-point performance in CUA’s
victory over Southern Maine in the championship game of the
CUA-Residence Inn Greenbelt Classic on January 2. For his
efforts Banzhaf earned the MVP of that tournament. He was
also named MVP of the Allegheny Invitational in November after
leading the Cardinals to the team title.
A native of Livingston, N.J., Banzhaf earned four Landmark
Conference Player of the Week honors throughout the season, in
addition to a pair of ECAC Player of the Week awards and one
selection to the D3hoops.com national team of the week.
Banzhaf registered double digit rebounds in 15 games in 2010-11
and his 15 double-doubles ranks 15th in America. His top
rebounding performance came vs. Scranton in late January when he
pulled down 16 caroms.
Banzhaf finished his career with 1,819 points, good for third
all-time at CUA, while his 879 career rebounds also places him
third on the all-time leader board.
