Second straight Player of the Week award for Banzhaf

WASHINGTON – For the second consecutive week Jason Banzhaf has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  The senior forward averaged 17 points and 12.3 rebounds last week for CUA as it remained unbeaten with a perfect 3-0 week.

Banzhaf began his week with a 14-point, 8-rebound performance in a 52-40 victory at Haverford on Monday, November 29.  The New Jersey native then helped the Cardinals improve to 5-0 with 18 points and 13 boards in a 52-50 win at Carnegie Mellon on December 1. 

Banzhaf closed out the week with another double-double, 19 point and 14 boards, in CUA's 73-57 conference-opening win at Goucher on Saturday evening. 

Banzhaf wound up shooting 61 percent from the floor, 75 percent from downtown and 90 percent at the free throw line in CUA's three games.
  
For the season, Banzhaf is leading the Cardinals in scoring (17.8) and rebounding (10), while shooting 63 percent from the field, 67 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 73 percent from the charity stripe.  He has led CUA in scoring four times and in rebounding on three occasions.

Banzhaf and the undefeated Cardinals (6-0) return to action on Wednesday evening when they close out a four game roadswing with a trip to Center Valley, Pa. to take on the DeSales University Bulldogs, who were ranked No. 24 in the latest d3hoops.com national poll.  Tip-off is set for 7:00.
