ECAC names Banzhaf Division III South Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – For the second time this season, senior Jason Banzhaf has been named the ECAC Division III South Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. Banzhaf, who collected the Landmark Conference Player of the Week honor on Monday, averaged 27 points and 10 boards in a pair of wins for the 10-2 Cardinals last week.
Banzhaf collected his second tournament MVP award of the season this past weekend as he helped lead CUA to the Residence Inn Greenbelt Classic championship. The New Jersey native netted 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting to go along with 12 caroms in the Cardinals 60-42 victory over City College of New York on January 1.
Banzhaf then scored 31 points on an 11 of 15 performance from the floor en route to 31 points, one off his career high, in CUA's thrilling 79-77 win over Southern Maine. The forward also pulled down eight boards vs. the Huskies.
The All-American finished the weekend having made an incredible 19 of 28 field goals (67 percent), as well as 15 of 17 at the charity stripe (88 percent).
Banzhaf and CUA will hit the floor on Friday evening when the Cardinals travel to take on Juniata in a Landmark Conference showdown. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
